  Christmas Spiced Porridge

This year I have had to learn how to make my food somewhat low carb but enjoying at the same time, so with the holidays in 3 days and the fact I'm still working to get my day started I make a festive change to my breakfast

Preparation Time: 2 ½ minutes
Cooking Time: 2 ½ minutes
Total: 5  minutes

Serves: 1 person

Ingredients 

  • 40g of Porridge Oats
  • 250ml of Semi - Skimmed Milk
  • 1 pinch of Waitrose Christmas Spice Mix  (or a mix of ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and  ginger)

Equipment

  • 1 Cereal Bowl (Microwaveable)
  • 1 Spoon

Method 

    1. Place the oats and the milk into a microwavable bowl. 
    2. Place in the microwave and cook the porridge for 1 minute on high (I have a 800 W Cat E)
    3. Take out of the microwave and Stir the porridge. Then microwave for a further 1 minute & 30 seconds 
    4. Take out the porridge and stir 
    5. Add the spices and stir into the porridge
    6. Enjoy

    3. Take out of the microwave and Stir the porridge. Then microwave for a further 1 minute & 30 seconds

      Nutritional Info

    For this dish I calculated that this had about 18 or 36.3g of carbs so for this, so for a Type 1 diabetic on a Short-Acting insulin Regime with 10g of carb to 1 unit of insulin this would require 2/3 or 4 units
