Baked Camembert

Happy New Year everyone, how was your Christmas and New Year, mine was good but busy visiting family and still working :(. 

I got a cheese dipping set in the sales, on new year’s day with meat platter and breadsticks. I ate the meat plater after work, and kept the breadsticks for another day, but baked the cheese and served it with toast, salad and the remaining meat platter!


Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Total: 20 minutes

Serves: 1 hungry person - it will happily serve 5 people

 Ingredients

  • 1 * 150g Camembert cheese suitable for baking
  • 3 cloves of garlic, peeled
  • 3 springs of Rosemary
  • Toast, salad and meat platter to serve

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Tray
  • 1 Chopping Board & 1 Sharp Knife

Method

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving and heat the oven to 180°C/160°C Fan or Gas Mark 4.
  2. Slice the garlic and wash the rosemary
  3. Place the cheese on a baking tray take the wrapping off and place back in the box, and cut a cross across the top of the cheese. Then place the rosemary and garlic on start of the crosses
  4. Then place the baking tray in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese is runny
  5. Serve with salad, toast soldiers and cold meat platter.

For this dish I calculated that this had about 0 of carbohydrate so for this, so for a Type 1 diabetic on a Short Acting insulin Regime with 10g of carbohydrate to 1 unit of insulin, this would require 0 units. The bread that was served with this did contain 36g carbohydrate so I would have to take insulin for the bread, which was 4 units
