Tower Bridge in London

London is every city hopper’s dream! With a population of nearly nine million and tons of things to do, it’s impossible to be bored there. I’ve visited three times now and still find new things to do!

For the best views of the city, head to The Shard - a 72 story skyscraper towering over the rest of the city - and of course you can’t visit London without riding the London Eye! Make sure to head to the Tower Of London and Tower Bridge for more iconic London attractions.

London is actually Europe’s fourth biggest city, so your best bet for transport will be the Tube. Another really enjoyable way of seeing the city is a Thames River Cruise, which is always an amazing experience!

You can read a more in depth guide of the best things to do in England’s famous capital here.

Bath

Bath

Bath is one of my favourite cities! It’s the perfect spot for booklovers, with dozens of independent bookstores, and offers the most beautiful views. Make sure to check out the Cathedral, which is right in the city centre!

For some quaint little picnic spots, head to one of the many parks. Royal Victoria Park has an excellent crazy golf course and is my absolute go to spot!

Of course, Bath’s main fame comes from the Roman mineral baths. I haven’t experienced this yet but from what I hear they’re well worth it - I’ll be doing it on my next visit! Bath is a very walkable city so you don’t need to worry about public transport

Bristol

Bristol

Bristol is the nearest city to where I live, and I love popping down there! There are so many great museums worth exploring - The M Shed and Bristol Museum are two I love which currently offer free entry - and it’s every shopper’s dream. You can find nearly any high store street you can imagine here!

It’s also worth checking out the docks and the iconic view of the waterfront on display. Here, you’ll find the famous colourful beach huts!

It’s also worth walking across the Clifton Suspension Bridge! The views here truly are spectacular, and you can look out across the whole city.

Your best bet for public transport in Bristol is taking advantage of its extensive bus network!

Exeter

Exeter

I absolutely love Exeter! There’s such a vibrant, warm atmosphere around the city and I’d love to uncover more of it.

If you’re into vintage, then Exeter is the place for you! Here you’ll find dozens of charity shops offering everything you could imagine and more.

Exeter’s cathedral is also absolutely stunning! It’s the perfect spot to have a picnic and people watch as the world goes by.

Cardiff

Cardiff Castle

The Welsh capital is another fantastic place to visit in the UK! I have some distant Welsh roots and it’s always so much fun exploring part of that. I’d love to learn some more Welsh.

For the best views of the city, head to Cardiff castle! Explore the grounds and climb up to the top before heading to the shops.

There are actually 20 castles in total in Cardiff so make sure to visit a couple of others whilst you’re in the area!

Cardiff is another really walkable city so you don’t need to worry about public transport.

Winchester

Winchester Cathedral

Did you know that, before London, Winchester was England’s capital? This charming city has all the small town vibes combined with the city feel, making it the perfect place to visit!

The best thing to do in Winchester is, of course, exploring its famous cathedral, but it doesn’t stop there. Wolvesey Castle is well worth a visit (and is even free!) as is Winchester City Museum.

Make sure to stop by P&G Wells, too. It’s one of the oldest bookshops and was built in the eighteenth century!

Winchester is really walkable too but is also connected by a great bus network.

Conclusion

There are so many wonderful cities in the UK; it was hard to narrow this down! I love all of these and would really recommend paying them a visit. Still, there are plenty more I still need to visit, haha!
