How to plan your next adventure
|
Planning your next holiday or day trip can be quite stressful, esp. for me, most of the time I use the following tips.
Research
Researching a trip can be exciting, seeing destinations on social media, in a travel brochure or on traditional media like TV, radio or print magazines and newspapers. Great places to research a trip are TripAdvisor, books (eBooks and physical - I love reading a guidebook), blogs (like mine) or their social media page, which links to their web page which includes maps and opening times.
My new favourite place – Stanford’s book shop in Covent Garden |
This research can be helpful in making your mind whether this destination is what you want from it so for example you have seen a holiday on social media going to Croatia, it sounds good, but when you research the trip and cost, its beyond your budget and has two days sailing involved, not such a great idea.
So with your research you can maybe change the idea of that holiday, and look for something different that does not have sailing in it or in your budget, but going to the same country.
Plan
Once you have researched your destination, hotel, museum, transport options, and price of everything so you budget for every situation. The best thing is to write down these things you have researched either in a notebook, travel planner or on the computer.
You can put all the ideas done the cost of each of them like a mini-itinerary, so you have some idea of what you are going to do, this makes thoughts easier to follow when you book everything and went you are on the trip as well, as some times you can get to a destination and be overwhelmed by it all, which is not great start to a holiday or day trip.
Book
The next stage is to book your trip, following your notes so booking your accommodation, travel, and any attractions that you need to book in advance of you leaving. Many sites can help with the booking of these options, if you are booking in an all-in-one package, it can be easier as most of the elements that are planned are included.
Once you have booked, so might need to pay straight away or have it paid instalments of money, most companies will have dates when you have to pay finally balances by, add these dates to your calendar so you don't miss the payments.
Enjoy your trip
Now you have researched, planed, and booked your trip, whether it be to the local museum or to a far way destination, enjoy it. Travel is about enjoying and making the most of your plans, if you don't enjoy it, make a different plan for next time, or write down what you can do better for your next trip.
